David McCullough, at Boston College, Sees No EvilWhat is the role of the intellectual in the Age of Bush and Cheney? On May 19, 2008, David McCullough, gave a commencement address at Boston College, a Jesuit institution. He never said one critical word about the Iraq War or the serial lies of the Bush-Cheney Gang that got the U.S. involved in that Neocon-inspired conflict. I believe Mr. McCullough missed an opportunity to speak out and to inspire the students to take their country back. |

Obama, Clinton and Anger to Burn"This year offers an electoral opportunity to get out the fire hoses and douse the pyromaniacs of the GOP. But the long Obama-Clinton battle has depleted precious time with little good to show for it." |

J Street: A Much-Needed Pro-Peace Lobby Is Born"We have always known that there was an internal debate in Israel when it came to peace issues, and have long lamented the absence of a serious debate on Israeli-Palestinian issues in the U.S. Even Joe Leiberman, when he was running for vice president, at one point noted how it was easier to have a debate on the fate of Jerusalem in the Knesset than it was in the U.S. Senate!" |

Why a Cultural Boycott is Necessary"It is clear that even cultural dialogue with the Israeli establishment has only proven to normalize the occupation. Tutu once declared, “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.” Now is not the time to be neutral, nor the time to be reticent; it is the time to act." |

Palestinians Trapped at Crossroads"If the national institutional references are not revived for whatever reason, be it the US-Israeli veto or other, and the renewal of the PA institutions is adversely affected by the national division and not properly done according to the Basic Law, the ensuing inaction would not only exacerbate the divide but it would render the Palestinian people leaderless, deprive Israel of a credible Palestinian peace partner and rule out peace and any credible peace process for a long time to come; in the end this could be the real undeclared US-Israeli strategy!" |

Kashmir: A Call for New Realism?"It is high time that the Hurriyat Conference and other Kashmiri leaders learn from their previous blunders that have contributed and perpetuated the sufferings of Kashmiris. They must unite in order to achieve realistic goals and direct Kashmiris towards a path that is away from unending suicide and destruction." |

Does Pervez Musharaff matter for the People of Pakistan?"The most important issue for a common person in Pakistan today, is not Musharraf or Iftekhar Choudhry rather how to make enough money to buy three time meal for their children; how to live safely with their family and to feel that their country is in safe hand." |

Is colonialism in Israel untouchable?"Indeed, Kasrils’ understanding that Israel had come into existence as a settler state through the forceful dispossession of the land of a people who had lived there for centuries, and whose description of Israel as a “hijack state” which he shares with John Rose the author of “The myths of Zionism”, has had a profound impact on a group of 300 SA Jews leading to the formation of “Not in my Name”. |
