The Two Faces of the United Nations"The U.N. must reform its charter regarding the Security Council’s membership and abolish the Veto structure and adopt resolutions by majority vote. It must be funded in large part by the southern hemisphere nations, especially the wealthy Arab oil nations, to remove the constant American threat to defund the organization. Perhaps even consider moving its headquarters outside of the U.S." |

Prospects for Peace on Earth"What should we make of the "end" of the war on Iraq? Well, the congressional authorization is being kept in place and transformed into an authorization for war anywhere forever. Drone strikes, bombing campaigns, and kidnappings may bring lower death rates, at least until there's blowback. But legally, to the extent that any of this is legal, the Iraq War is not ending. Thousands of State Department mercenaries are remaining in Iraq, and the U.S. Army has just hired mercenaries with a no-bid contract for an unknown amount to escort convoys through Iraq. Meanwhile, troops are on stand-by in Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and U.A.E. So, the "ending" of the war is limited. It's also ending despite everything President Obama had it in his power to do, not because of anything he's done since taking office. And it's ending in part because the exposure by whistleblowers of what this war has been resulted in the Iraqi government refusing legal immunity from criminal prosecution to U.S. forces that stayed." |

Obama's speech to the U.N.: In distorting the facts he revealed the truth"There is no question that the people of Israel and Palestine are in urgent need of help, but supporting Israel as an apartheid state is the last kind they need. The people of the Middle East will not tolerate indefinitely a colonial regime in their midst that oppresses its Arab population and commits blatant violations of international law. Israel faces what may be a greater danger from within, in the rise of powerful settler groups that insist all of Palestine belongs to the Jews, and the increasing number of those willing to attack anyone who disagrees." |

The Myth of an Israel-Centered "Jewish Vote" and its Negative Consequences for Mideast Peace"The fact is that there is no Jewish vote--only the votes of millions of individual Jewish Americans. Those ballots are cast on the same basis as are those of Americans of other faiths. It is a dangerous challenge to our democracy to try to separate voters on the basis of religion, and to do so on the basis of a false picture of the nature of U.S. Middle East policy is harmful to all—to Israel, to the Palestinians, to American interests in the region and, perhaps most important, to the truth itself." |

The failures of democracy in the West offer hope for Islamic movements everywhere"For many, the state of American politics has long been convincing evidence for the case against democracy. The problem is that this evidence is hardly new and yet little seems to have changed, in either the US or the rest of the world." |

Analyzing the US endgame in Afghanistan"Will the Taliban agree this time? They have rejected the presence of any foreign military forces on their soil. They are not alone in opposing this; hundreds of Afghans demonstrated in Kabul against the bases on October 24. A number of regional countries including Pakistan, Iran, Russia and China are also opposed to the idea. Why the Americans cannot grow out of the habit of looking at every issue through the military lens when their military is not even very good at achieving such objectives is beyond comprehension. If they just leave and allow the people to decide their own future without intrusive American presence, even the US would benefit." |

The gTLD Opera"To hit a real high note here, cyber-squatting fear mongering is nothing but smoke screens. If we accept the fact that domain name variations of choices are freely available all over the world then obviously there would be some cyber-squatting and for those well protected trademark holders, which is just another routine trademark defense exercise." |

Examining Ethics behind Communal Violence Bill"Those who have policy of concealment and conspiracy to torn apart secular fabric of the nation and make India a Hindu Rashtra may be against it but the government has responsibility to sail it through both houses of Parliament. Indian nation needs it badly more than Anna Hazare’s Jan Lok Pal Bill because ideological corruption is threatening Right to Life where as financial corruption is only strengthening parallel economy." |
